Brazos™ Zoysiagrass is a medium – fine bladed zoysia from the University of Florida’s Turfgrass Breeding Program. Brazos features superior drought resistance, early spring green up and fall color retention, disease resistance, and shade tolerance. It has good cold tolerance and can withstand higher salt content and provides a dense, high-quality turfgrass for home lawns, park, golf, and commercial applications.

Brazos consistently showed excellent results in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP), finishing as the top-performing entry in 2013 trials and again ranking among the best in 2019. Over a decade of research and testing across multiple universities—including Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, the University of Georgia, and NC State—proved its superior drought performance, turf quality, and adaptability.

Maintenance:

Proper watering upon installation is essential to successful establishment.

Water thoroughly upon installation ensuring that both the Brazos is wet and the soil is most to a depth of 3", which is approximately 1" of water per day.
In hot weather, water within a few hours of installation to mitigate sever damage or loss due to heat/dehydration stress.
Shaded areas and heavy soils require less water than full-sun areas and sandy soils.
When proper rooting is evident, alter irrigation program accordingly.

Zoysia best performs when it receives approximately 1 inch of water per week.

Fertilize your new lawn once rooted with a light application of 10x10x10 fertilizer.

Mow as soon as your new lawn is rooted - at the recommended height(see table below).

Mow when grass is this tall: 2" 5cm
Set cutting height of mower to: 1.5" 3.7cm

Mow with sharp mower blades.
